History

St. Thomas School is a Minority Educational Institution. It is owned by the Malankara Syrian Catholic Diocese of Puttur and is run by a unit of educational service of the Diocese in Karnataka under Maria Social Service Society registered at Shimoga in Karnataka. The school was inaugurated on 6th of June 2001.

St. Thomas School is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi (CBSE/Aff No. 830228) and it will follow syllabi and courses as per scheme of studies prescribed by the NCERT and changes made by CBSE therein from time to time.

The Government of Karnataka has granted the permission to start an Independent Pre-University College in the school campus from the acadamic year 2011-2012 (Vide No. 198/SHH/2011). It is yet another crown in the pinnacle of Maria Society in its credentials as a pace setter in the realm of higher education. The college will follow syllabi and courses as per the scheme of studies prescribed by the PU Board Bangalore.

It offers the children the advantage of the best academic, training, providing Excellence in Mental, Physical, Moral, Cultural, Emotional and Spiritual Development. This School gives special emphasis to develop children as good citizens and prepares them for service and responsible for Nation building.

We strongly believe that to empower an individual, education is the basic necessity. Education liberates mind and creates a process in oneself and make him/her a competitive and confident individual. Our efforts are sincere towards imparting quality education which is the foundation for a bright future.

Admission to this School is open to all, irrespective of Caste and Creed. We are specially concerned that no student of this area should be deprived of good education just because he /she is financially poor. Keeping in mind the aspirations of the parents and students we have come up with the Saint Thomas Residential School at Byndoor in Udupi District, where the priorities are high moral standard, academic excellence, self realization, emotional stability and mutual trust.

Campus Location

The beautiful 8 acre campus situated at Nithyadhara Nagar, in Yedthere village of Byndoor, Udupi Dist. is the home of St. Thomas Residential School and P.U. College. This campus is popularly known as Nithyadhara Nagar and is 1 km east of Byndoor new bus station on the Byndoor Maddody road. The nearest air port is Bajpe at Mangalore and the nearest railway station is in Byndoor about 1 km from the campus. Byndoor lies between Kundapur in south (35 kms) and Bhatkal in the north (15Kms) on NH 66.
